Sakana, a Japanese casual dining restaurant located at Waterway Point, specializes in Japanese rice bowls and desserts. Ranging from Donburi, Ramen, Shibuya Toast to Waffles, be sure to find them all at Sakana.
Upon stepping into Sakana, you can see posters of its signature Donburi plastered all over the restaurant. Priding on its Donburi mains, we were tempted to try on its Donburi options.
Chicken Katsu Don ($8.80)
Katsu Don is definitely an all-time favourite at every Japanese restaurant. Served with deep fried chicken cutlet, onions and egg. We love the well-battered skin of the chicken katsu, which was neither too thick. For $8.80, we believe that the portion and standard of the Chicken Katsu Don was reasonable.
Beef Yakiniku Toji Don ($11.80)
Generous portion of well-marinated and tender beef slices served with Japanese Rice and half-boiled egg. Every rice bowl comes with a miso soup.
Chicken Katsu Curry Rice ($13.70)
The Chicken Katsu Curry Rice was slightly disappointing as the taste of the curry was not able to bring out the richness in flavours, and was sadly mixed with artificial chilli sauce. Both spices failed to complement well with each other. To taste the original taste of curry, we highly encourage diners not to opt for its spicy curry. The chicken katsu, however was fairly acceptable as its battered skin had some degree of crispiness on every bite. It was a pity that the main highlight of the dish - curry, had downplayed the entire savour for the dish.
This was our first visit to Sakana and we would definitely want to be back to try out their signature desserts, such as Shibuya Toasts to Monster Milkshake.
