Flaming Don, the latest addition to Bugis+, is a brand new dining concept which prides on Japanese Donburi (rice bowls). Signature Donburis include Flaming Chicken Don, Flaming Beef Don and Japanese Pork Hamburger Don ($9.90 to $16.90). With more than 15 types of rice bowls to choose from, Flaming Don is definitely a must-go eatery for rice-lovers.

Flaming Don is a self-service concept restaurant, starting from the ordering kiosks, which accept both cash and card payments. Hence, passing on the savings to diners through the affordably-priced donburi with No GST and Service Charge. A wallet friendly restaurant suitable for the target segment within the vicinity.

Chicken Combo Don ($12.90)

This dish which comes with a generous portion of mid-wing coated with terriyaki sauce, sumibiyaki chicken thigh, yakitori chicken skewer and onsen egg. For the price of $12.90, the spread of ingredients, perfectly grilled, were really valued for money. It was a pity that the rice were rather bland and could barely match the taste profiles of various chicken parts, which were slightly salty. Due to these mismatch and the lack of umami marinated flavours, we hardly gave this dish a passing grade.

Flaming Chicken Ramen ($12.90)

Charcoal-grilled chicken with tokyo ramen and cilantro butter broth. The ramen broth was really unique, with a very strong milky taste in every mouth. We loved the springy ramen.

Agedashi Tofu ($4.90)

Comes in 4 pieces, the fried tofu was served with generous serving of Bonito Flakes. Its crispy coated skin is aesthetically golden and heavily fried. However, it does little to look as good as it taste due to the thick ‘gluey sensations’ derived from deep frying overwhelming coating of flour. This starter dish is slightly commendable for its soft, silky textured beancurd inside. Hence, it might not be what you are looking for if you have high expectations for tofu dishes.

At Flaming Don, diners can complete your meal by topping up $1.99 to enjoy free flow of soft drinks and miso soup. Although Flaming Don is a new concept that offers affordable donburi, the reviews on satisfactory taste can be improved to convince diners on further motivations for repeat visits.
