Bak Kut Teh, in Hokkien means “meat bone tea”. A popular delight among the Chinese in Singapore. Founder Bak Kut Teh is one of the pioneers of Bak Kut Teh in Singapore, specialising in Teochew-styled Bak Kut Teh. Founder Bak Kut Teh opened its first outlet at Balestier Road in 1978, and has served many local and international celebrities.

Today, Founder Bak Kut Teh has a total of five outlets around Singapore, and has also expanded into Indonesia.


At Founder Bak Kut Teh, diners have the option of selecting the various pork ribs or pig’s parts for their Bak Kut Teh - Premium Ribs, Premium Shorts Ribs, Lean Meat, Stomach and many more.

Founder Bak Kut Teh - Pork Ribs Soup

Founder Bak Kut Teh ($9.90)

Filled with premium herbs and spices, the soup has a complex taste - rich peppery, garlic immersed in pork ribs broth. Another highlight of this dish is the Pork Ribs. The meat of the pork ribs were soft and easy to nibble every piece of the meat off the bone.


Within a while, you will find your bowl of soup being slurped down your stomach. Fret not, staff will go around the tables to get your broth refilled with fresh serving of piping hot broth.

Braised Pig’s Trotter ( $9.90 / $12.90 )


One of the most sumptuous portion of a pig, will definitely be its trotters (feet). Although pig trotter dishes can be rather sinful, it also comes with a high amount of collagen which is beneficial in nourishing one’s skin.


Start the pig trotter by immersing the trotter with a few spoonfuls of gravy, to better bring out the irresistible essence of the pork. We love the tender meat and the layer of fats which melted into our mouths.


Overall, we felt that the gravy can be slightly saltier, to better enhance the taste of the dish.

If not for the partially filled stomachs even before these main courses, we would definitely have given dishes such as the Steam Cod Fish ($18.80), Crispy Prawn Rolls ($5.80) and Classic Steam Minced Meat ($6.80) a try. We felt replenished after the bowl of authentic richness. Such goodness came with no service charge and was indeed value for money. We will definitely come for repeat visits and try out other mouth-watering dishes at Founder Bak Kut Teh.
