Nakhon Kitchen Century Square – Authentic Thai Cuisine with Air-Con Dining

Nakhon Kitchen, has gained its reputation of serving authentic Thai food at affordable prices, with No GST and No Service Charge. Most of Nakhon Kitchen’s stores are located in shophouses in the heartlands such as Kovan, Bedok and Holland Village. This Thai food eatery is often seen having incredibly long queues during lunch and dinner periods. Despite its rapid expansion to serve more heartlanders, Nakhon Kitchen has also ventured from shophouses to shopping mall, where diners can enjoy dining in an air-conditioned space while slurping down the often spicy thai delights.

Located at Century Square Tampines, Nakhon Kitchen’s latest concept is a fully air-conditioned store, with more dining space to cater to the crowd. Even though they have located in malls, the food prices are kept consistent, with No GST and Service Charge as well.

Being regular customers of Nakhon Kitchen, the most appealing items on the menu would definitely have to be its Tom Yum Soup (clear or thick base), Meat, and Vegetables, with an average price between $6 - $8 per dish, excluding seafood. Nakhon Kitchen at Century Square offers an additional menu featuring Thai-styled Fish ($22 - $28) served over a steamer, which is a great choice for sharing.

Recommended dishes to order:

Nakhon Kitchen Century Square - Tom Yum Soup

1. Tom Yum Noodle Soup [Tang Hoon / Kway Teow] ($5)

Being Tom Yum lovers, we prefer going for the Tom Yum Noodle Soup, which is served in a bigger bowl as compared to the typical Tom Yum Soup ($6). You can expect to have more Tom Yum Soup and noodles, at a lower price.

The main ingredients in the soup consist of prawns, sotong, mushrooms, fish and other spices, which are the essentials to bring out the overall taste. The Tom Yum Soup does not merely have a flat taste, but is somewhat complex with spices of lemon grass in it. Despite being extremely spicy, the Tom Yum Soup is yet addictive.

Nakhon Kitchen Century Square - Green Curry

2. Green Curry Beef ($8)

Green Curry is what the Thais take pride of. At Nakhon Kitchen, diners can choose among 3 different types of Curry - Green, Red or Yellow Curry, served with either Beef, Chicken or Pork. We love going for the Green Curry Beef as the curry was thick, deliciously fragrant and overwhelmed with spices.

Despite being a curry delight, Green Curry is suitable for non-spicy eaters as it is not that spicy and will be a good complement for your rice.

Nakhon Kitchen Century Square - Stir-fried Basil Pork

3. Stir-fried Basil Pork ($6)

Basil Pork is another popular and must-order delight at any typical Thai restaurant. For the price of $6, we found that the serving for this dish has reduced significantly in recent months, even at its original outlet. The texture of the minced pork is rather soft and a little oily. Apart from just spiciness, one is able to taste the garlic, oyster sauce and fish sauce within the dish.

Beware and avoid biting on the diced chilli padi within the dish which can be much “hotter than the sun!”

Nakhon Kitchen Century Square - Honey Chicken

4. Honey Chicken ($6)

Deep-fried chicken chunks coated with honey sauce, this dish may perhaps be one that is non-spicy. Highly suitable for kids and non-spicy eaters. This is one dish we will definitely order to complement the Pineapple Fried Rice.

Nakhon Kitchen Century Square - Claypot Glass Noodles with Tiger Prawns

5. Claypot Glass Noodles with Tiger Prawns ($14)

At Nakhon Kitchen Century Square, diners can choose to order from their exclusive menu where more premium dishes are offered, which come with a slightly higher price compared to its main menu. We tried the Claypot Glass Noodles with Tiger Prawns, where the glass noodles was cooked with XO sauce. Generally speaking, for the price, we expected more ingredients in this dish. However, apart from 2 tiger prawns and slices of garlic, there was nothing much in this dish.

Regardless how spicy the dishes were, we truly appreciated the dining experience inside an air-conditioned environment as we hardly broke into sweat. This made the whole dining experience much more comfortable than its usual non air-conditioned concept. Similar to Aloy Thai, Nakhon Kitchen is highly recommended for diners looking for authentic local Thai food at affordable prices.

If you're looking for more quality Thai food coupled with better service and dining experience, Nara Thai will definitely be a good choice to spoil yourself.
