Ramen Nagi - Contemporary & Innovative Ramen Chain from Fukuoka at Suntec City

Ramen Nagi, a famed ramen chain from Fukuoka has finally located its first store in Singapore. Located outside Suntec City Tower 2, Ramen Nagi is the latest addition to the vibrant dining options at Suntec City.

Ramen Nagi - Suntec City

Ramen Nagi’s humble beginnings first started in Fukuoka, Japan by Founder-Chef, Ikuta Satoshi, who was well-known for serving unique fusion ramen. Over the years, Ramen Nagi has expanded its presence to more than 50 stores across Japan and Asia.

Be prepared to step into a lively store coupled with enthusiastic service, upon entering the restaurant. Like Ichiran Ramen, Ramen Nagi offers diners the option of customizing their bowl of ramen. Such customizations ranges from the choice of soup thickness, spicy level, noodle texture, additional sauces, and Cha Shu meat - shoulder or belly. First-time diners are usually recommended going for the “normal” to attune themselves to the basic taste profiles of ramen.

Signature Original King - Butao ($13.90)

The tonkotsu broth was thick, rich and creamy. The broth has attained umami flavours and has achieved in gratifying diners to the last spoonful. To add on to the diverse taste profiles, both scallions and black fungus lowered the saltiness of the dish, bringing a balance to the ramen’s aftertaste.

The ramen was precisely cooked to the right texture and was al dente, tempting us to literally slurp them down loudly. Comes with two generous slices of Cha Shu, Butao King provides the thickest and juiciest slices of pork shoulder.

At Ramen Nagi, you can help complement your ramen with your preferred amount of seasoned beansprout.

Signature Red King ($15.90)

Packed with the best mix of garlic, chilli oil and cayenne pepper, this ramen is definitely a must-try for fans of strong flavourful spices. Even when we opted for Fire Sauce at level 2, the flames of the broth were unbelievingly hot.

Not to mention, there is still an ultimate ‘ball of fire’ right in the centre of the ramen. This ‘ball of fire’ is infused with miso, chilli spices and minced pork. Only the adventurous spirit will dare to mix all together to savour their flavourful broth.

Unless you have an exceptionally fiery appetite, Red King can be slightly too overwhelming for one to handle. At Ramen Nagi, you can challenge your tolerance for spicy, as it offers spicy level from 1 to 10. But we dare say that at level 2 alone, it was quite challenging to handle.

Ramen Nagi - Suntec City Gyoza

Gyoza ($7.50)

At Ramen Nagi, Gyoza seems to be the most popular side dish to go along with. Served in mini versions, these pan-fried, circular-looking Gyoza was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

We were first captivated by its circular-shaped presentation, just like a pizza, where you have to carefully flip and dice out the individual mini Gyozas.

For the price, we felt that the portion of the gyoza could be improved to add value to diners.

Overall

We love Ramen Nagi mainly due to the option of having the ability to customise our ramen and for their constant innovation with limited edition ramen, such as the recent Garlic King flavour to capture the hearts of ramen-lovers. We look forward to patronize Ramen Nagi again for more contemporary and exciting ramen selections.
