Hotpot culture is a prevalent scene in Taiwan and is definitely a popular hide-out for meals especially during winter. Most of the popular hotpot stores serve unlimited buffet style, but fret not, if you only have a small stomach but still want to enjoy hotpot, you can always visit San Ma Stinky Hotpot, 三媽臭臭鍋.
Offering a variety of hotpot delights ranging from seafood hotpot to kimchi hotpot, be greeted by the scene of staff cooking hotpot delights outside the store as you enter. The store is highly patronized by locals. Each pot comes in a standard size and is recommended to be your personal pot. At NTD 110 (approx. $5), be thrilled by the amount of ingredients that is served in every pot.
Seafood Tofu Pot (NTD 110)
The Seafood Pot comes with prawn, cuttlefish, fish slices, pig blood, tofu, vegetables and glass noodles. The broth is definitely the highlight of the hotpot which makes the ingredients delicious. It was really unique and we have not found another store that could offer such a tasty standard.
Kimchi Pot (NTD 110)
If you are someone who goes for stronger flavours, try the Kimchi pot. Each pot comes with kimchi, beacurd skin, korean rice cake, slices of pork, sausages and glass noodles. Warm your stomach by choosing your desired level of spiciness for your hotpot.
At San Ma Hotpot (三媽臭臭鍋), every pot comes with a bowl of rice and free flow of soft drinks, where you can help yourself to the red tea or winter melon tea at the drinks bar. It was already our 2nd time dining at San Ma Hotpot and we were glad that it always leave us walking away with a satisfied stomach and commendable praises.
