Yon Ho Soybean Milk Taiwan Taipei 永和豆漿

Yon Ho Soyabean Milk 永和豆漿, as you can tell from its name, is famous for its soyabean milk (豆漿) since the 1950s. This store gets a lot of traffic in the morning, highly patronized by the working crowd around the Taipei Main Station district. The most popular grab-and-go combination among the locals would be a cup of soyabean milk and fried dough fritters (油條). Hence, this store is renowned for its soyabean milk and fried dough fritters prepared in its open-concept kitchen, to bring out its traditional flavour.

At Yon Ho, 2 versions of hot soyabean milk are available - sweet or salted, and it is served in a bowl (NTD 22 = SGD $0.95). We tried on the sweet version of soyabean milk and found that the taste was quite different from Singapore’s version. The taste of the soyabean milk is richer and not as sweet. If you are someone who prefers sweeter drinks, we recommend you to ask the lady to add more sugar into your soyabean milk, so that it can better appeal to your tastebuds.

Fried dough fritter wrapped with egg 蛋餅夾油條(NTD 33) - back Omelette with Ham 火腿蛋餅 (NTD 40) - front

We tried the fried dough fritter wrapped with an egg crepe as this combination is rather unique, which is unavailable in Singapore. The fried dough fritter was really soft and the skin was much thinner than Singapore’s version. The taste was rather unique and it really serve as the best accompaniment for the piping hot bowl of soyabean milk.

One of the dish we would like to highlight will be the Omelette with ham. This is our favorite dish at Yon Ho. This dish is freshly prepared upon ordering. The omelette was really soft and tasty and it blended really well with the ham slices.

If you are someone who likes to skip those fanciful breakfast and experience how the Taiwanese eats, Yon Ho will definitely be one of the must-visit breakfast store while you’re in Taipei.
